I like going to an “about me” page and learning who that person really is. So that's my plan here. Welcome along! 😊
My first job after university was working as a prison officer.
BUT it wasn't my bag, so I quit after four months.
I then built a cricket protein bar business. That's right—crickets, as in insects. I imported cricket powder from Thailand and developed recipes in our kitchen. (My mum wasn't too pleased.)
I branded the bars, met with suppliers, and pitched to supermarkets.
After 365 days of documenting, I put the project to bed. I didn’t believe in the product, but it was a valuable experience which ultimately led to writing.
I’ve since been publishing articles on Medium.com, and my most popular article has over 81K views.
In 2021, I dipped my toes into freelancing, and I now help tech companies and founders make more sales. I also teach others about content marketing through online courses, including my SEO Bootcamp Course with Zero To Mastery.
Two “Gatsby-Toasting”moments (not work-related):
The Youth Sport Trust nominated meto carry the Olympic flame during the London 2012 Torch Relay after I delivered coaching workshops to 1,000s of students. I was lucky enough to be selected to carry the flame along York’s Bar Wall.
In 2012, I performed on-stage with Olly Murs and Gregory Porter in the BBC’s Big Band to raise money for Children In Need. Being a grade 8 trombone player has its perks (occasionally).
