I’m seeing this trend everywhere.
Medium, LinkedIn, Substack, Instagram…
You name it.
People are getting AI to write comments on other people’s posts.
You can spot it a mile away.
I’ve stopped responding to most comments on Medium. If people can’t be bothered to write them, why should I?
It frustrates me most when I see big-name creators doing this. C’mon, mate, you’re better than this.
But then I realised something.
Those who comment on other big-name creators’ posts are doing it for one reason and one reason only.
To get more attention.
So their incentive isn’t to write something super thoughtful or cutesey or whatever.
It’s to get more eyeballs on their stuff.
And this is when I realised I’m probably not cut out to be a full-blown creator.
I would never do this. I love the craft of writing too much.
But these guys treat it as a business first, creation second.
That sucks.
Worse yet, these creators are probably using AI agents to do the posting for them.
F*ck that.
If we can’t even be bothered to comment any more, we’ve truy lost our way.
