Why have you done this to yourself?
Have you seen what a typical lawyer does day-to-day?
Just thinking about it makes me want to poke my eyeballs out.
Now sure, I get that there’s good pay and career progression, but surely that’s not enough. You were once a grade 8 saxophonist. You could paint for days. These creative pursuits are things you could have continued.
So why choose the law?
Why?
No shade on lawyers (okay, maybe a little), but this is pretty much my thought process everytime I see someone with the word “associate” in their title.
Why am I judging so much?
Because I’ve seen so many smart and talented people I used to go to school and university with go into the profession, and it breaks my heart.
They chose “safe” (although increasingly less so with AI) over what they love.
Surely no one dreams of pushing papers for a living.
Am I missing something here?
